Mission of the AOMDA

Mission of the The American Overseas Memorial Day Association Belgium

The Mission of the American Overseas Memorial Day Association Belgium is to perpetuate the remembrance of the members of the American armed forces who died in the defense of freedom and who are buried in Belgium. The Association accomplishes this mission through three principal activities:

  • Organizing and conducting Memorial Day ceremonies at the Ardennes American Cemetery, the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, and the Flanders Field American Cemetery.
  • Commemorating and preserving the graves of the American servicemen buried in isolated graves outside of these three cemeteries in Belgium.
  • Engaging in youth outreach and other projects and activities to promote the remembrance of the members of the American armed forces who died in the defense of freedom.
