AOMDA Isolated Graves Ceremony Schedule

Memorial Day Weekend 2017

During Memorial Day weekend, AOMDA conducts a Memorial Day ceremony at each of the isolated graves and at the two ABMC American monuments in Belgium.  We also commemorate the Americans who fought and died while serving in British and Commonwealth armed forces during our ceremonies at the Lijssenthoek and Heverlee Commonwealth War Grave Cemeteries.   Each ceremony consists of placing flags and flowers on the graves, playing the American and Belgian national anthems, plus one or more tributes. Each normally lasts for about twenty to thirty minutes. However, sometimes local community involvement can make the event larger and longer. By focusing on the lives of individual servicemen, these ceremonies add a more personal dimension to Memorial Day and the price of our freedom.  We hope you will join us at one or more of these ceremonies!
